Portland, Oregon's Black Orchid blends unique vocal stylings, moody atmospheres, and organic compositions with spoken word and traditional songs. Reflecting the wide-ranging musical experience of its members, the band encompasses tribal rhythms, hypnotic pop, ambient sonics, and experimental noise.
Black Orchid's eclectic sound is based on improvisation and collaboration. Haunting soundscapes give way to dark pop songs; pretty melodies turn dissonant when the band swirls into a chaotic groove. Onstage, the musicians move comfortably between structured songs and fluid improvisations.
